Ask your AI about any building set
Brickalike has a free connector for AI assistants. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any app that speaks MCP (the standard way assistants use outside tools), then ask about a set by its number: what it is made of, and which parts you can 3D print or have to buy.
New, and read-only. No sign-in, no key, no Pro needed.
The address
Paste this where your app asks for the address of an MCP server:
https://brickalike.com/api/mcp
It works over the web (Streamable HTTP), so there is nothing to install or run on your computer.
What you can ask
- lookup_set: "How many of the parts in set 10698 can I print?" Gives the name, year, piece count, how many pieces to print and how many to buy, and a link to its page.
- list_parts: "What are the 10 most common parts in 42096, and which can I print?" Lists the parts most numerous first, each marked print or buy.
- part_info: "Can I print part 3001?" One part by its number, with a link to its page and free print file.
The assistant decides when to use them. You only ask in your own words.
How to add it
- Claude: open Settings, then Connectors, choose to add a custom connector, and paste the address above. In Claude Code, run the command below instead.
- Cursor: add a server to your
mcp.jsonwith the address as itsurl(the example below). - ChatGPT and others: add it as a custom MCP connector or server (ChatGPT calls this developer mode) and paste the address. Any app that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP can use it.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http brickalike https://brickalike.com/api/mcp
Cursor (mcp.json)
{
"mcpServers": {
"brickalike": { "url": "https://brickalike.com/api/mcp" }
}
}
The menu names change between apps. If yours looks different, look for "add MCP server" or "custom connector".
Try it by hand
You can test it from a terminal without any assistant. This asks about set 10698:
curl -s https://brickalike.com/api/mcp \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-H 'Accept: application/json, text/event-stream' \
-H 'MCP-Protocol-Version: 2026-07-28' \
-H 'Mcp-Method: tools/call' \
-H 'Mcp-Name: lookup_set' \
-d '{
"jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": 1, "method": "tools/call",
"params": {
"name": "lookup_set",
"arguments": { "set_number": "10698" },
"_meta": {
"io.modelcontextprotocol/protocolVersion": "2026-07-28",
"io.modelcontextprotocol/clientInfo": { "name": "curl", "version": "1" },
"io.modelcontextprotocol/clientCapabilities": {}
}
}
}'
It answers one JSON message per request. It speaks the current MCP version (2026-07-28) and the earlier ones (2025-11-25 and before, with the initialize step).
Prefer to look it up yourself?
The set tool does the same on a web page, and makes the print files too.
