Turn a house or building into a brick model
Brickalike can turn a building into a brick model. A whole house is too big for a phone scan, so the route is a 3D file (from a scanning app or a design tool) or a scan of a scale model. Preview it free, see the brick count, then print it.
How it works
- Import a 3D file: Scanning apps such as Polycam and Scaniverse can capture a building, and design tools export one. Import a GLB, glTF, OBJ or STL (up to 80 MB and 1.5 million triangles).
- Or scan a scale model: A model house or a dolls' house fits the camera scan. Put it on a plain surface and turn it slowly in front of your phone. The photos stay on your phone.
- Set the detail: Buildings need many studs to show windows and rooflines. Start at 48 studs wide, go up to 72 for fine detail, and choose thinner plates for sharper edges.
Tips for a better result
- Use a bigger stud count than for a toy, so windows and doors survive.
- Thinner plates give crisper rooflines.
- Hollow it out. A solid house is a very large number of bricks.
- Check the brick count and cost estimate before you print.
Questions
Can I scan my own house?
Not with the camera scan, which is made for objects. Use a scanning app to make a 3D file and import it.
How big is the print?
You choose: 100 mm, 150 mm, real brick size or an exact size in millimetres.
